Bruce R. BackenstoAdjunct Professor of Theological and Historical Studies, 1996-
Rev. Backensto brings many years of pastoral experience in various pulpits to his teaching at the Seminary. He has particular interest and expertise in the mediatorial kingship of Jesus Christ over all spheres of life, which he emphasizes in Doctrine of Civil Government.
Professor Backensto has contributed "I John 2:10 and the Heart of a Pastor", in Pro Gloria Christi, a festschrift in honor of Emeritus Professor Edward A. Robson; "The Parity of the Eldership: The Biblical Basis and Application," in The Church and Her Ministry; and, "The History of Psalmody," in Psalm Singing of the Covenanters. His representative articles are: "Why the Old Testament Wars" and "Race Relations," in Covenanter Witness, and "Brown, Baxter, and the Justification Controversy," in The Confessional Presbyterian.
