Free Dinner at Sheraton Station Square March 13 to Raise Support for Ministry of Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary
(Pittsburgh) – February 2, 2009 – The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) will host its annual dinner on Friday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Sheraton Station Square, Pittsburgh.
RPTS also will honor and share about the ministry of one of its alums by presenting the Faithful Servant Award to Dr. Roy Blackwood, a 1951 graduate. After pastoring the Bloomington, Ind., Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPC) and earning his Ph.D. in Church History from the University of Edinburgh, Blackwood began new ministry in Indianapolis. Over the following 45 years, he established Second RPC in Indianapolis which twice sent out families to daughter congregations in the Indianapolis area. Through Dr. Blackwood’s leadership, Reformed Presbyterian congregations were also established in five other cities in Indiana and Illinois.
This dinner, which is free to attend, is a time of encouragement for friends of the Seminary, and to introduce new friends to its ministry. Several students will give testimonies about the impact of RPTS in their lives and churches. Donations are accepted at the event, and table sponsorships are available.
Reservations are required by Monday, March 2. Call Mrs. Kim Backensto at 412-731-8690, Ext. 128, or email kbackens@rpts.edu.
