RPTS PRESIDENT FIRST EUROPEAN AMERICAN TO SPEAK AT MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., DAY CELEBRATION SERVICE
RPTS President Dr. Jerry F. O'Neill delivered the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, message on Monday, January 19, for the Baptist Ministers Conference of Pittsburgh and Vicinity at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh. He was the first person not of African descent to do so.
“Although other European- Americans have been members of the Conference, this is the first time a European-American has preached the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration service,” says Dr. Leroy Walker, pastor of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and one of the organization's founders. “It is one more small step toward reconciliation.”
