Revelation: The Book of Blessing Vol. I Designed To Transform Common Misconceptions about The Book of Revelation
“The book of Revelation is like the woman who had an issue of blood for many years, suffered, saw many doctors, and was no better. I am trying to help people understand that the book [of Revelation] is about Jesus and the intent of the revelation is to bless His people -- to read this book and come out with any other conclusion is to miss the point of the book entirely. It is a book from Him and about Him and a book of blessing. If you come out talking about the dragon, the beast, the antichrist, the millennium and 666 you have missed the point entirely -- it is to bless Jesus and the people who belong to him.” Dr. Edward Robson is a Professor Emeritus of the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Point Breeze, Pennsylvania. Robson’s first volume of the series has been released and is for sale from www.dearyoungshepherd.org for $17.00.
Volumes 1 through 7 are designed to be used as devotionals or small group study aids. Volumes 8 through 12 are technical materials including grammar, exegesis and the historical setting of the book, as well as discussing the authorship, archeology and theology of the book. Lord willing, the entire series will be released within the next two years.
This series is the fruit of a lifetime of research and study. “I have spent all of my life”, Robson says, “as a student of the Scripture - this work is what I can leave because I know that I cannot take it with me. I wish that I had had something like this when I was younger, but there was nothing of the sort. I am motivated for the benefit of the next generation.”
One of the reasons why the Book of Revelation is so difficult for people is because they cannot let go of their own ideas about the book before they start reading. “If you start going in the wrong direction you HAVE to turn around, people impose upon the book of Revelation things that were never intended to be there. How can so many good people get such bizarre, contrasting and confusing results? It is simple. If you start with the wrong questions and ideas you will always get the wrong results.” Robson continues, “The book is filled to overflowing with allusions to the Hebrew and New Testament Scriptures that precede the Revelation. Out of the 400 verses in the Book of Revelation approximately 290 or more are allusions to other portions of Scripture.”
One of the reasons Pastor Robson is so excited about the release of these books now, is that, the entire Book of Revelation is written against a backdrop of political tyranny, unrest and social upheaval. It was hard to be a Christian when this book was originally written. Needless to say, the book of Revelation, and the blessings it shares are just as relevant today as when it was first penned.
Dr. Robson resides with his wife Gretchen in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. They have 3 sons and ten grandchildren.
