Giving Back to God in Our Last Act of Stewardship
As I have spoken with many people about working through the seemingly difficult task of preparing a will or other estate documents, I’ve often asked myself, “Should Christians approach the task of estate planning differently than non-believers?”
My experience of 30 plus years in assisting believers and non-believers in estate planning has revealed the need for a clear message to Christians – estate planning should be viewed differently than the world would have us do this.
The world would tell us that the right thing to do is to give all that we have to our kids. After all, our love for our children – as the next generation of our family – is huge. This desire is certainly not a bad thing and our loved ones should be a large part of our plans to pass on God’s resources. But how great a love should we have for our Lord who laid down His life for our eternal salvation? If God tells us that our life and relationship to Him is the most important thing we have to consider and deal with in this life, then what does that say about supporting, extending and lifting up causes that promote the name and Kingdom of Christ?
How many of us can look at our children and see that they are doing fine and while more money or goods may give them more, is there a place – a Kingdom ministry – that can be strengthened through our Last Act of Stewardship? There is a long list of causes, organizations and ministries that truly need financial help. If we, who love the Lord, don’t support these both in life and in death, then we know the world certainly will not.
I encourage you to think carefully and creatively about setting aside a portion of your estate for the ministries of God’s Kingdom in your Last Act of Stewardship.

I would be happy to visit with you about different ways you can support God-honoring ministries, such as RPTS, that can become even more effective by your Last Act of Stewardship.
