Dynamics of Public Speaking
Course Description
In this one week intensive course, we will examine various principles and techniques for effective oral presentations. Dynamics of Public Speaking will allow the student to develop the ability to plan, write, fine-tune, and deliver proficient communication when teaching, reporting, or giving addresses in public speaking forums. (3 hours)
Biography
Dr. Calvin Troup is the Adjunct Professor of Speech at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is also a professor at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Troup holds a B.A. degree from Geneva College and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. He is the author of A Guide for New Public Speaking: Building toward Success and Temporality, Eternity, and Wisdom: The Rhetoric of Augustine’s Confessions.

Note: Principles of Speech is a required course for Master of Theological Studies students.Note: SH44 will include class presentations and written assignments.
COST
The course costs $795. Ordained Clergy may audit SH44 for a fee of $100. Payment in full for tuition or auditing fee are due by the first day of class. Checks should be made out to RPTS.
FOOD
No meals will be served at the Seminary. Several restaurants (both fast-food and sit-down) are located within walking distance. Coffee will be available during the morning. Kitchen facilities are available.
HOUSING
A limited number of beds are available at RPTS for $10.00 per night.
BOOKS
If you want the Seminary to order text books for you, please designate this on the order form and return it with a separate payment by May 13, 2011. Checks should be made out to “RPTS Bookstore”.
