2011 Day of Giving Results
With thanksgiving the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh is pleased to announce the results of the Day of Giving sponsored by the Pittsburgh Foundation on October 4, 2011. The combination of matching funds and donations to the Seminary totaled approximate $95,000.
Over 654 organizations received donations totaling more than $6.4 million. Giving at a rate of $75 per second over the twenty-four hour donation period, contributions more than doubled the Day of Giving in 2010. According to the Pittsburgh Foundation, the seminary’s supporters donated enough to place RPTS in the top ten organizations in terms of dollars donated. Ranking in eighth place is quite an amazing thing that the Lord has done.
“I really had no idea what the Lord might do with the Day of Giving,” noted Mark Sampson, Director of Development at RPTS, “I thought perhaps $20,000 would be an incredible blessing.” The Lord did far more than that. It has been a challenging year financially at RPTS. God’s provision through the Day of Giving is providentially timed. As RPTS President, Jerry O’Neill states, “Each day is an act of trust in the Lord’s leading.”
The mission of the Seminary is to educate students who love the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word, equipping pastors for the ministry of the gospel and preparing others in the church for effective service in His kingdom, all within the framework of the historic Reformed faith. For more than 200 years, RPTS has faithfully fulfilled this mission. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of supporters and the prayers of many, the Seminary will continue to glorify God, Lord willing.
